From the opening tip it was clear Stepinac wasn't going to let this one get complicated. They defended with discipline, protected possessions, and used rebounds as momentum shifts at the exact moments the game needed it. Nothing flashy, just a team that knew what it was doing and executed.
Hayes made it competitive and had their moments throughout the night but every time they got close Stepinac had an answer. A clean possession, a stop, a bucket that pushed the lead back out. Hayes could never build anything sustained because Stepinac simply wouldn't let them.
Four straight intersectional titles is a statement. It's not just about talent at that point, it's about the standard the program holds itself to. Championship basketball isn't a goal at Stepinac anymore, it's the expectation. Making history in the process just adds to what this group accomplished.
